Plant & tree Identification and Uses

Spend the day walking in our woods looking at the different plants and trees and their uses. We will look at the different types of tree and their usefulness in the context of bushcraft, for example what trees are good for carving, burning, floating and so on.
At the same time we will look at the plants around which offer us food and medicine and how they can be processed to provide these bounties.
In order to do this we will need to look at ways in which to identify them, each having a different set of characteristics from which to establish what they are. From buds to flowers to seeds.

Alison Henderson forager and recipe creator is joining Dave Crosbie chief instructor of Tree-ditions to share with you their skills in foraging, food and woodland understanding. This is the first in a series of seasonal food and forage workshops for 2019.

We will begin the day with a hot drink and campfire breads whilst we discuss the way for the day.

This will be based on whats available for foraging including a close look at trees. Ways in which to identify them and what that particular species might offer to the forager. Dependent on the availability we will look into sap tapping. We will have a light lunch and a further forage in the afternoon, followed by a wee quiz and a sample of some sap products.

Joining information, equipment list and how to get here will be sent out on completion of your booking and receipt of full payment.
