Fire Maker Maestro

Fire Maker Maestro, so called because by the end of the course you will be able to make and successfully use a bow drill set to make fire by friction! This is probably the most difficult fire making technique to succeed with from all the fire making ways, ok, maybe the hand drill but you can have a go at that too. You will be taught the elements which make up fire and explore the different ways and combinations to succeed in fire making. We will need to learn some basic safe knife using skills in order to be able to complete this course. To summarise some of the content;
  • Suitable wood identification for starting and maintaining fire
  • Suitable wood identification for starting fire by friction
  • Basic knife skills
  • The science of fire
  • Fire lays
  • Different fires for different jobs
  • The different methods of fire starting
  • Extinguishing and leaving no trace
