Learn to use a Pole Lathe

The lathe has been around for thousands of years in many forms but used for the same purposes, to make wood round and smooth. it's been used to make things from ear rings to chair legs to bowls. Its been powered by hand, elbow, bullock and monk. The lathe you will learn on is a pole lathe based on the lathes used by the  Bodgers of the Chilterns down south. its powered by your legs to turn the wooden billet allowing you to shape it with gouges and chisels to turn what are every day items but made by you out of wood.

On this day you will be able to make a variety of items from candle holders to spoons to take home and show off.
