Catering
On our catered courses we use local organic vegetables from our local farm shop. Meat is sourced from our local award winning butchers, venison and game is sourced from a local hunter and game dealer and fresh sea fish from Dunbar which has it's own small fishing fleet and fresh water fish is sourced locally too. This is some of the best food fair available in Scotland from right here on our doorstep, from 'Scotland's bread basket'.
On multi day courses we will provide a simple breakfast of porridge, cereal, yoghurt and fruit. Lunch will most likely be a packed lunch, filled sandwich and fruit or where possible a bowl of soup and fresh bread. Evening dinners are also simple meals mostly pasta or rice based. Hot beverages are available throughout the course with the camp kettle being on most of the time.
Generally meals will be simple affairs where course participants will be expected to muck in and lend a hand to organise and clean up.
Please contact us prior to booking to discuss any special dietary requirements you may have.
Travel & Accommodation
Bushcraft and Primitive Technology Courses
Our meeting point is near the train station in Dunbar which is easily reachable from Edinburgh and the south by train, car or bus. More information will be forwarded on receipt of the full payment of the course. From here we will look to car share where possible to the woodland located a few miles away.
For multi day Bushcraft courses we meet the evening before to set up camp in our woodland. There is no camping on single day courses.
The arrangements for Green Woodworking and Coppice Crafts
On single day activities you will come directly to the venue. On multi day courses there is the option to camp or make use of some of the cottages, B&B's or hotels in the local area. On booking your course you will need to let us know what your preference is in order for us to organise ourselves appropriately.
Fitness
To participate on our courses you will require a reasonable level of fitness as elements can be physically demanding.
Unfortunately our courses at the woodland are not suited to people with mobility restrictions due to the rough terrain. If you are less able and would like to participate in elements of our courses please contact us to discuss possibilities.
