Tree-ditions are delighted to announce another great opportunity!
John Rhyder, the UK’s only Cybertracker Evaluator (and one of only three in Northern Europe), is coming to East Lothian again.
Following the last three successful events John will be undertaking the fourth Cybertracker evaluation to be held here in Scotland!
Cybertracker evaluations have become the international standard for evaluating and certifying wildlife trackers.
The system was created in South Africa in 1994 by Louis Liebenberg who set out to identify those with exceptional skills amidst the steep decline in traditional tracking skills (The name derives from the digital system designed to assist the native people record their findings.)
In 2005 Mark Elbroch (author of Mammal Tracks and Sign) held the first evaluation in the USA. Since then the system has been adopted by numerous schools, state agencies and research teams. The system has travelled across the globe and is now well-established in Northern Europe.
For more history on Cybertracker visit http://trackercertification.com/
These evaluations offer the chance to test your skills and learn a huge amount about tracking in a friendly and supportive environment.
There are ten places available on evaluations which are filled up very quickly so please be quick.
This is a two day evaluation which will be held on the 25th and 26th May 2024 in East Lothian in the East Linton area.

Alison Henderson forager and recipe creator is joining Dave Crosbie chief instructor of Tree-ditions to share with you their skills in foraging, food and woodland understanding. This is the first in a series of seasonal food and forage workshops for 2019.
We will begin the day with a hot drink and campfire breads whilst we discuss the way for the day.
This will be based on whats available for foraging including a close look at trees. Ways in which to identify them and what that particular species might offer to the forager. Dependent on the availability we will look into sap tapping. We will have a light lunch and a further forage in the afternoon, followed by a wee quiz and a sample of some sap products.

Green woodworking is working wood which is freshly harvested, in its green state, still soft with moisture in the wood. This lends it to being worked more easily with sharp edged tools. The pole lathe and shave horse are the work stations used in these ancient crafts.Â
You will learn to use a variety of traditional and contemporary tools to make a selection of functional items to take home.Â
Children must be 10 years or over.Â
The two day courses are catered courses.
